Gym goers at Pembroke Leisure Centre are benefitting from improvements to their fitness suite earlier than expected.

An upgrade to the 35-station suite opened two days ahead of schedule allowing consumers to workout using the state of the art equipment.

The £125,000 investment by Pembrokeshire County Council will attract people from all walks of life and support them in achieving their goals, according to the centre’s manager Darren Bowen.

Darren is delighted
“We are very proud of our new layout and the addition of the latest Life Fitness Cardio equipment with Discovery Consoles and a greatly improved Free-Weight offering.
“But the best thing, and what will add most value to our customers, is the technology behind the products.”
Modern LF Connect technology included with the new equipment enables customers to:
·         Use personalised exercise programmes
·         Record and review your workout results online
·         Record and replicate workouts completed outside the gym
·         Create and swap programmes or adjust ones they have been given from home PC, smart phone or cardio equipment
·         Communicate with instructors and with other members

High praise from Chris Payne

Pembrokeshire Leisure services manager Chris Payne paid tribute to the centre’s staff during the refurbishment before adding the investment highlights Pembrokeshire County Council’s commitment to its leisure provision.

“The team at Pembroke have worked hard and we’re very proud of them in not only achieving a difficult timescale for re-opening but actually beating it and opening two days earlier than expected.
“Our aim is to get more people to become more active more often and to achieve this we need to invest in our equipment to keep our gyms fresh.

“This new equipment will allow customers to maintain their motivation by tracking their fitness goals through modern technology and allows them to share their progress with others.
“Studies have shown that couples who get fit together are more likely to succeed so by being able to share our progress with others, we’re helping people reach their goals and they are helping us reach ours.”
